TRANSCRIPT:

When I ask people what they like about the current President, the most common answer I hear is “The Economy”.
So, I was checking out the president’s Rally last week in PA and I heard this:

“Take a look at your median income. Take a look at what’s happened, the numbers, median household income, take a look at your numbers. With President Bush, it went up $400 in 8 years…”

I paused the video and I thought – I’m going to do exactly what my President suggested. I’m going to take a look at the numbers for median household income.
Let’s see, he said with Bush over 8 years, went up $400.
Here is a graph of data from census.gov with the Median Household Income.
Starting 2001, Bush’s first year, it was $60,038.
By the time he left at the end of 2008, you can see here, the median income was $58,811.
Let’s do the math and subtract 2008 from 2001 and we get negative $1251. So it went down $1251?
What did Trump say?
(REPLAY)
Who can keep all these numbers straight – lets cut him a break and let’s resume the video

“With President Obama, it went up $978 in 8 years.”

President Obama came into office in 2009, and as you might remember, he inherited a giant mess from the 2008 crash. At the end of 2009, the median income was $58,400 per year.
When he left office 8 year later, our median household income for 2016 was $61,779.
Let’s subtract 2016 from 2009 for Obama’s 8 years and we get an increase of $3,379.
What did the president say?
“With President Obama, it went up $978 in 8 years.”
So – He short changed President Obama by $2401. Trump decreased what Obama accomplished by 245% – But who’s counting – let’s move on…

“With President Trump, it went up $5,000” – but when you add energy savings, tax savings, you have an almost $10,000 gain in 3 years.”

Have your energy savings changed? Mine haven’t. Is the combination of your energy savings and tax savings giving your family an additional $5,000 a year PLUS Trumps 5k increase in your income? 10k more a year?
but let’s just stick with what he said about his 3 years.
The president said he created a $5,000 increase.
At the end of 2017, the president’s first year, our Median Income was $62,626.
Remember the year before 2016, with Obama, it was $61,779.
Subtract Trump from Obama’s and we get $847
Is that good?
MOVE – Lets look at Obama’s last year just to compare
Lets take Obama’s 2016 and subtract 2015, and it looks like it went up $1,878.

I’m sure Trump improved in his 2nd year
MOVE – 2018, median income went up to $63,179.
Subtracting TRUMP’S 2017 gives us an increase of $553. That number is a 34% decrease from the previous year.
The consensus THIS YEAR – 2019 – is approx. $63,030.
Subtracting 2018 gives us a negative $149
That’s a 126% decrease from 2018?
Lets chart it out…

Median income 2016 – Obama – it went up 3.14 % from the previous year
2017 – Trump’s first year – went up 1.37%
2018, went up .88%
2019, projected to go down .24%
Does this line data showing a growing household income in our country?
Let’s add Trump’s 3 years – We have 847 + 553 then subtract 149 and we get a total $1251.
Didn’t Trump say $5,000?
If a friend announced at a party that they generously gave you $5000 but they really gave you $1200, would you stand there with a sign and cheer them on?
We’re not talking a few hundred dollars discrepancy… we’re talking about $3749 less per household per year than president deceptively claimed in his rally.
If there are approx 128 million households in the US, – That’s a 480 billion dollar (479,872,000,000) exaggeration in the president’s favor – it’s not even close to true…

We’re talking about our precious livelihoods. Is it ok with you that our president is trying to make us believe that he has improved our income, when the data clearly shows he has not?

And I’m not talking stock market – so please don’t get off topic. I’m talking about our median household income. I welcome comments and I welcome opposing views but I don’t welcome anger and name calling. Please let’s kind and stay on topic. We’re talking about median household income. We’re not talking about Clinton or the stock market…. If you want to comment, bring it on.

I’m Gina Fant-Simon and I’m trying to wake people up to do their homework so we can choose Facts over Fiction – we all need to Choose Integrity over party and get this country back on track. Thank you paying attention.
